Who Are We?

MISSION STATEMENT
Worshiping God | Following Jesus | Led by the Holy Spirit

We believe the Christian Church in her purest form was created to fulfill the great commission (make disciples) and the great commandment (love God, love others). We are committed to living out our legacy and purpose as a part of the Church in West Los Angeles. Imperfect as we are, at every opportunity we strive to Love God, Love the people made in His Image, and to make disciples of all nations bearing witness to the good news of Jesus.

STATEMENT OF FAITH

The Triune God
God is the creator of the universe, and has eternally existed in three parts, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Gen. 1:1, 26, 27 & 1 Peter 1:2 & Psalms. 90:2.

Jesus
Jesus Christ is the one and only Son of God. He lived a perfect, sinless life on earth. He offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all mankind when he died upon the cross. He was buried in a tomb for three days and then to demonstrate his power over sin and death he arose from the dead. Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven.

Matthew 1:22-23, 1 Corinthians 15:1-8, John 14:6, John 3:16.

The Bible
The Bible is the inspired word of God. It was written by men under supernatural guidance. They were inspired by God and therefore the bible exists today without error. While the Bible was written primarily in Hebrew and Greek, there are many great English translations that faithfully and accurately translate the word of God. One of these great translations is the ESV which we use as our main translation.

2 Timothy 3:16, Psalm 119:105, Prov. 30:5.

The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God as part of the trinity. He (the Holy Spirit of God) lives in every Christ Follower from the moment of Salvation and is actively involved in our sanctification. He gives us the ability to live in a way that we could never live on our own.

John 14:16-17, Acts 1:8, Col. 1:27.

Mankind
Every human being is equal in dignity, value and worth as a person made in the image of God. The reality is, we all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. But the great news is that the forgiveness of sins and the promise of eternal life are available to those who trust Christ as Savior and Lord. We cannot make it to heaven by any other way than confessing Jesus as Lord and trusting in what he did for us on the cross.

Romans 3:23, John 3:16.

Salvation
We believe that the blood of Jesus and his sacrifice on the cross provide the sole basis for our forgiveness of sins. That those accepting Christ should repent of sin, confess their faith, and be baptized into Him.

Romans 10:9, Romans 6:23, Acts 2:38, Ephesians. 2:8-9, Galatians 3:26.

The Church
The word "church" literally means gathering. We believe Jesus' Church is the collective of all genuine Christ followers all around the world. While Christ's Church spans the entire globe, it is primarily expressed through local gatherings where believers come together to study the word of God, pray together, worship together, and walk in genuine community with one another. The Church exists to Love God, Love People, and to make disciples of Jesus through gospel-centered, Spirit-led community with one another.

Ephesians 4:1-16, Matthew 5:14, Acts 2:42

Heaven and Hell
Man was originally created to live forever. And all mankind will exist in a place either separated from God or in the very presence of God. Our eternal destiny is determined by our decision on earth to accept or reject Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We further believe that Jesus Christ will one day return to earth to reign forever as King of kings and Lord of lords.

Luke 12:5, John 14:2-6, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18.
